Did pupper swear off gluten after your last brewery crawl? If so, he’ll dig these Minneapolis cideries + gluten-free breweries around the Twin Cities. Sniff ‘em out with your best bud.
Number 12 Cider, Minneapolis (patio only)
Number 12 Cider offers water bowls to keep the pups well hydrated, amazing wood-fired pizzas to keep the hooman bellies full, and mouth-watering flights to sip on. The pawtio is open all year long with fire pits for all those freeze puppies (& s’mores kits for purchase for those snacking Schnauzers). For dog’s sake, go check it out!
Minneapolis Cider Co., Minneapolis (patio only)
If your dog drinks well with others, this cidery is a great patio option. Partnered with Breizh Kitchen, Minneapolis Cider Co. offers gluten-free options with their authentic French crêpes and galettes, making it also a great brunch spot. Did we mention the cidermosas?
Need some hair of the dog? Check out their tail-waggin’ Pomolige cocktails. The Harriet, a floral rhubarb Collins, is on our mutts-drink list.
Sociable Cider Werks, Minneapolis
While known for their ciders, Sociable Cider Werks also dabbles in seltzers, non-alcoholic elixirs, mead (honey-based alcoholic bevy), and beer, making this a great Minneapolis cidery for all palates. Well-behaved and leashed puppers are welcome to step paw in the taproom or relax on the patio, which often has free smells coming from their resident plant-based food truck, Francis Burger Joint. Pounce on over to the website before your visit to spot which drinks are gluten-free versus gluten-removed, and what that process looks like!
Thor’s Hard Cider, Stillwater (patio only)
This Stillwater spot not only allows dogs…they adore ’em! The Thor’s outdoor patio is dog-friendly yearround, with occasional bonfire pits during events, and a picturesque place for the Instapup, as the taproom is located right on Aamodt’s Apple Farm. The puppers will be in doggy heaven with the wide open vineyard and apple orchard that is free to roam, and their hoomans will love the wide range of gluten-free hard cider options (you’ve gotta try the coffee cider, Nordic Press, or Ginger Fizz!).
After you’re done sippin’, head on over to adorable downtown Stillwater to shop til you drop in the dog-friendly stores. In other words, this is the pawfect day trip!
Eastlake Craft Brewery, Minneapolis (patio only)
While not a complete gluten-free establishment, Eastlake Craft Brewery has some real fantastic options for pups who say no way to all things gluten. Keep an eye out for the pink “GR” icon on the beer menu for the gluten-removed beer options. The sunny, pro-pup patio is right outside of Midtown Global Market, so there’s tons of munching options for all tastebuds and dietary preferences. Fresh water bowls for the pups and worldly tastes for the hoomans? Yes, please!
Burning Brothers Brewery, St. Paul (patio only)
Burning Brothers Brewery is currently the only Twin Cities brewery with a dedicated gluten-free facility. From grain to glass, their beer is authentically gluten-free (no enzymes or filters are used to remove gluten). When open, their patio welcomes canine friends. No matter if you’re a Lager Labrador or a Pale Ale Aussie, their tap list is extensive.
