Pupper wants pizza and frankly that’s always a good idea (fight me, Karen). We know that the pooch is a bit picky when it comes to pizza, so we’ve sniffed out the upper crust of the Twin Cities. Time to take pupper on the Tour de Minneapolis Pizza Places. Sniff out these ‘za joints for a slice so nice.
Pizzeria Lola (Minneapolis)
Named after owner (and James Beard Award winner) Ann Kim’s Weimaraner furbaby, Pizzeria Lola servers love when woofers come along. The patio’s presh, treats and water bowls are available by request, and the menu is next-level. Name another pizzeria where floof can also get roasted corn with togarashi butter.
Station Pizzeria (Minnetonka)
A shaded patio and water bowls will keep doggo cool while he scores some pupperoni at this gas station-themed pizzeria. Station Pizzeria is across the street from the Lake Minnetonka LRT Regional Trail so you and your BFF can cycle in. (Here are five tips for biking with your dog.)
Punch Pizza (Northeast – other locations are dog-friendly, too!)
Monching Neapolitan faves on Punch Pizza’s large, shaded patio is your dog’s idea of a furrific afternoon, and a post-pizza walk along the Mississippi is the stuff doggy dreams are made of. Well, that and a highlight reel of us walking through the door, probably.
Parkway Pizza (Longfellow and Northeast)
It’s all about local ingredients and ground-daily sausage at Parkway Pizza. The Longfellow location’s patio is extra-spacious, plus their staff (both at the Longfellow and Northeast locations) will happily bring your bestie water bowls and treats upon request. What is she supposed to do, survive on crust alone like some sort of peasant?
Pizza Lucé (Richfield – other locations are dog-friendly, too!)
The staff at Pizza Lucé can’t wait to see your dog, and your dog can’t wait to score a few bites of that cheese-topped meatball. This spot has local and craft brews on tap. Vegan and gluten-free pooches will rejoice at the furiety of options.
Giordano’s (Richfield)
Giordano’s is synonymous with Chicago-style pizza, and this pro-pupper spot even hosts doggo events on the patio. Take a bite outta Chi, then top it off with a pup cup from the Dairy Queen down the street.
Black Sheep Pizza (Minneapolis)
Whether you wanna keep it classic with cheese and sauce or go rogue with oyster mushrooms and smoked mozz, it’ll be baked to pawfection in Black Sheep’s coal-burning oven (the first one in MN). Extend your doggo dinner date with a sit and some sips on The Freehouse’s patio down the street.
Carbone’s Pizza & Pub (Minneapolis – other locations are dog-friendly, too!)
Come to Carbone’s patio and your dog will be treated, watered, and d’awwed over by literally everyone. Minnesota nice runs deeps here—these peeps have been servin’ up pies since 1954, have 31 MN locations, and even count some of the Vikings as regular customers.
Jakeeno’s Pizza & Pasta (Minneapolis)
The modest neighborhood spot serves up a top-notch thin crust and has a partially shaded, fenced patio for excellent people watching. Pup’ll love Jakeeno’s classic menu of Italian pizzas, pastas, hoagies, and salads. At the time of this article, they were serving up takeout/delivery options only, but don’t fret—take that pie to-go for a picnic and enjoy walking around nearby Powderhorn Lake afterward.
Victoriano’s NY Style Pizza (Stillwater)
If pup hasn’t been to Stillwater yet, it’s time. This pro-pup town has tons of dog-friendly stops, stores, and sights! Victoriano’s NY Style Pizza offers authentic, tasty, hand-tossed pies with fresh ingredients that are sure to pawlease pupper. While dogs are welcome on the patio, our rec is to take that pie to go and grab a grassy, riverside spot just a block away from Victoriano’s. Nothing better than munching with views of the historic Stillwater Lift Bridge.
Little Tomato at Number 12 Cider (Minneapolis)
Sippin’ AND snackin’? Nothing better than that! Number 12 Cider’s dog-friendly patio is also home to a fantastic pizza truck, Little Tomato. These wood-fired, hand-tossed, 10-inch pizzas are fired up in their Italian Forno Bravo brick oven daily. Between the farm-fresh ingredients and the chewy yet crispy crust, these pies are the perfect pairing with craft ciders. For pups with dietary restrictions, gluten-free and vegan options are available.
Okay, pups, we wanna know: who has your favorite crust in town? Woof at us the comments, and be sure to tag @SidewalkDog in all your Minneapolis pizza outings!
