All puppies and adult dogs past and present are welcome to enter. We have tons of prizes and multiple entries. Here’s what to do and how it works.
Get your creative juices flowing and make sure your dog is happy to get dressed up. We want to see your dog in their Halloween costume whether handmade or purchased.
No humans are allowed in the photos BUT you can enter up to five photos per person. Check out the easy rules AND our amazing sponsors who are awarding the winners with over $700 in prizes total!
Halloween Photo Contest for Dogs Information
The 13th annual Fidose of Reality Halloween photo contest for dogs starts now, October 3, 2023, and all entries must be submitted using the form below. If you follow along by liking our Facebook page, you can see all the entries as they are submitted each day.
When Does The 2023 Dog Halloween Photo Contest Close?
Our 13th annual Halloween photo contest officially closes on Friday, October 27, 2023, at 11:59 AM ET.
How Are Dog Halloween Photos Judged?
Fidose of Reality’s independent panel of three judges will pick THIRTEEN winners who enter the contest.
What Are The Categories?
The 13 categories are:
- Best Overall Grand Prize Winner
- Most Creative
- Funniest
- Scariest
- Best Duo
- Best Group of Dogs (three or more)
- Best Use of Pop Culture
- Prettiest
- Best Female
- Best Male
- Carol’s Favorite (my personal fave, so I get to have fun this year)
- Best Cocker Spaniel Entry
- Best International Entry (someone outside the USA)
The dog or dogs in the photos must be yours and dressed up for Halloween without putting the your dog being in harm’s way. Don’t make your dog dress up if he doesn’t want to, please. Dogs who don’t like to dress up can wear a festive leash, bandanna,, pose with pumpkins, decorations, etc.
There are no LIKES or votes required for this contest. It is good old-fashioned fun!
Can I Alter Or Photoshop My Photos In Any Way?
No photoshopping, please. Any photoshopped photos will be disqualified. We want originality! You can watermark but that’s it. DO NOT SEND PHOTOS WITH TEXT ON THEM NOR PHOTOS WITH PEOPLE IN THEM. A WATERMARK IS OKAY, BUT ANY PHOTOS WITH TEXT ON THEM WILL BE OTHERWISE DISQUALIFIED.
Hint: Don’t submit photos you entered in previous years.
Can Humans Be In the Photo?
No, there can be NO humans in the photo. Any photos that include people whether or adults or kids, will be disqualified.
Can My Dog’s Friends And Family Enter?
Yes! You can submit FIVE entries per person, please. Additional entries beyond the first FIVE will be disqualified.
How Do I Know If I Won the Halloween Dog Photo Contest?
Winners will be notified and have 48 hours to respond. Winners will be revealed on Monday, October 30, 2023, in this post and through email.
Winners must provide their name and mailing address for prize fulfillment. Winners who fail to respond within 48 hours of winning will be disqualified and the runner-up will be selected.
You must be 18 years or older to enter.
Can International Dog Parents Enter?
Yes, the prize pack for International members is listed below.
All winning images will appear across our social media channels and you provide us with permission to share your entries on social media.

Can I Enter Photos I’ve Submitted In Years Past?
It is not recommended that you send photos from the past. If they didn’t win the first time, try again with a new image!
Is This Open To Dogs Worldwide?
Yes! But the prize is noted below for one International winner.
