Your pup knows that shopping small is the best way to keep your fave local spots in business. She may also know which stores give out the best dog treats. If pup’s in the mood for some re-tail therapy, sniff out 10 dog-friendly Chicago boutiques that’ll help scratch that itch!
1. Capucine
Travel is still a no-no right now, but who needs it when Capucine is bringing the Parisian flea market to Chicago? They have a gorgeous selection of vintage and sustainable goods, and your pup is in luck because they even have a pet section. We think you both will be saying “Oui oui, omelette du fromage!” about this shop!
2. Eskell Chicago
Whatever room in your house you’re shopping for, you can probably find it at Eskell. Their gorgeous store in Bucktown features it all: furniture, kitchenware, apothecary goods, jewelry, and of course, clothing. Well-behaved dogs are permitted, so let them know they better be on their best behavior if they want their home to be the perfect backdrop for their Instagram content.
3. Belle Up
Originally a shop dedicated to women expecting human-puppies, Belle Up Boutique has expanded with two distinct collections: their contemporary women’s clothing and their maternity/nursing clothing. They rep the South Side and are part of the very dog-friendly Shops at North Bridge.
4. Alice & Wonder
Heralded as “the best place to get dressed in Lincoln Park,” why would you want to go anywhere else? This women-run business is a labor of love, and that includes love for your pups. With a commitment to investment pieces, Alice & Wonder has a $100 promise: The majority of pieces in this shop are less than $100, unless their team whole-heartedly believes the product is worth the spend. It’s nice to have someone looking out for your wardrobe, and your budget.
5. Dovetail
Just because it comes preloved doesn’t mean it’s worth any less (just ask a rescue pup!). Dovetail is a woman-owned vintage boutique in West Town that’ll fill your closet with forever pieces. Your dog is one of a kind–shouldn’t your clothing be too? This’ll practically be guaranteed in this carefully curated shop, and if you do end up finding out someone else has the same look as you, at least it’ll be a person with excellent taste.
6. Felt Chicago
When was the last time you felt good in your clothes? If the answer wasn’t any time recently, zoomie over to Felt Chicago ASAP to change that. This upscale boutique features clothing from established designers and emerging talent, as well as individualized styling from their staff, so you’re guaranteed to look best-in-show.
7. Krista K Boutique
Krista K Boutique debuted as Chicago Magazine’s “Best New Women’s Boutique,” and they’ve kept that energy since opening. There are two floors filled with a thoughtful mix of designs from seasoned and emerging brands. The best part about shopping at Krista K Boutique isn’t just the clothes though; it’s the way the clothes are made. They feature brands that make a conscious effort at practicing environmental integrity and social responsibility. We give that four paws up!
8. Milk Handmade
Want to shop local and buy products that are made local? Then you need to check out Milk Handmade. This women’s boutique features ethically- and sustainably-produced goods. Their private label is designed by the owner, Hallie, and made in Chicago. We guarantee you’ll find something you love in this shop. It may be a candle or some clothes, but it’ll definitely also be their super cute shop dog, Sauvie, who is often found sleeping on the sofa.
9. Alexandra Marks Jewelry
Founded by a fourth generation jeweler, Alexandra Marks Jewelry is the place to go to find affordable, luxurious jewelry. This Wicker Park shop specializes in the “the look of real,” with their designs featuring sterling silver and cubic zirconia that are conflict-free and ethically sourced. Your doggo doesn’t know how calendars work, but he told us he’d love a new necklace to complement his collar for your adoption anniversary.
10. Rotofugi
Oof awkward–your dog saw “pop culture” and thought they were dedicated to pup culture. While Rotofugi has a focus on toys and artwork, they definitely still sell wearables like the ever cute Tokidoki line. Their dog-friendly store is adjoined to the Rotofugi Gallery, a monthly rotating art exhibit that features a mix of local and nationally-known artists, so maybe your doggo can sniff out the next up and coming Banksy.
