This series is dedicated to local pups having a harder time finding their forever homes, whether it be due to age, physical impairments, or just needing a little extra attention. We could all use a friend rn, so we’re spreadin’ the woof about this special somepawdy.
Adopt Lola from Lucky Paws Midwest
Name: Lola
Stats: 1-year-old, 45 lb Goldendoodle
Location: River Falls, WI
Rescue: Lucky Paws Midwest
Sidewalk Dog: She’s so fwuffy we’re gonna die! Tell us more!
Lucky Paws Midwest: Lola is the happiest dog. She is so full of life and is always pumped to go for walks, even if it’s just to the mailbox and back! This lady wants to be near her person and will be happy doing whatever you ask of her. Her butt wiggles extra hard whenever she sees her favorite people, and she melts into you for cuddles and love. The best part is she knows how to settle down, and she is smart as a whip—picking up commands comes super easily for her!
SWD: Snuggly AND smart? What else is she into?
LPM: Being outside with her people. She loves running around the yard or going for walks. Lola especially loves to walk through puddles in the street. She will purposefully run through them or just stomp around in the puddles like a small child. It’s extremely endearing. Cuddling is her other favorite activity—she needs all of your love all the time.
SWD: We already love her! What are her special needs?
LPM: Lola has congenital megaesophagus, which *sounds* really scary, but is easily managed. She needs to eat her meals upright in a chair, which she will go home with to make it easier for the adopter. She probably wouldn’t leave without it, to be honest—she LOVES her feeding chair! She actually sometimes puts herself in it and tries to close the door to say “I’m ready for more food” and refuses to leave until she gets some treats. She also has a medication she takes twice a day, but it may be something that can be phased out eventually. Her condition is extremely mild, and she will likely live a long and happy life. She cannot eat regular dog treats, but seems to keep Gerber puffs down really well. She is also able to drink water, but cannot run around for a bit afterwards.
SWD: BRB just picturing her in her own widdle chair. What else is she lookin’ for in a home?
LPM: Her ideal home would be with someone who is active and can make her the center of their world. She is extremely interested in cats, so would likely need a home without them. She adores children, but she may be a bit…extreme with her love for them. Mostly because she puts her whole body into wiggling around to get love and it may be too much for kids under the age of 10. She gets along with dogs after a slower introduction, but definitely does not need another dog in the home to be happy.
