Get spooky, funny, and creative. It’s the 12th annual Fidose of Reality Dog Halloween Photo Contest. This only happens once a year, and we’ve upped the bar with more prizes! Our 12th year means 12 prize packs totaling $800.
Get creative, have fun, and make sure your dog is happy about the whole process. We want memories made, and you can enter up to five photos. But no humans are allowed in the pictures. Here’s how it works.
Halloween Dog Photo Contest Details
The 12th annual Fidose of Reality dog Halloween photo contest is open now, September 29, 2022, and all entries must be submitted using the form below. If you follow along by liking our Facebook page, you can see all the entries as they are submitted each day.
When Does The Dog Halloween Photo Contest End?
The Halloween photo contest officially closes on Thursday, October 27, 2022, at 11:59 AM ET.
How Are Dog Halloween Photos Judged?
Fidose of Reality’s independent panel of three judges will pick TWELVE winners who enter the contest.
Are There Categories?
Yes, the 12 categories are:
- Best Overall Grand Prize Winner
- Most Creative
- Funniest
- Scariest
- Best Duo
- Best Group of Dogs (three or more)
- Best Use of Pop Culture
- Prettiest
- Best Female
- Best Male
- Carol’s Favorite (my personal fave, so I get to have fun this year)
- Best Cocker Spaniel Entry
The dog or dogs in the photos must be yours and dressed up for Halloween without putting the dog in harm’s way. Don’t make your dog dress up if he doesn’t want to, please. Dogs who don’t like to dress up can wear a bandana, pose with pumpkins, etc.
There are no LIKES or votes required for this contest. It is good old-fashioned fun!
Can I Alter Or Photoshop My Photos In Any Way?
No photoshopping, please. Any photoshopped photos will be disqualified. We want originality! You can watermark but that’s it. DO NOT SEND PHOTOS WITH TEXT ON THEM NOR PHOTOS WITH PEOPLE IN THEM. A WATERMARK IS OKAY, BUT ANY PHOTOS WITH TEXT ON THEM WILL BE OTHERWISE DISQUALIFIED.
Can Humans Be In the Photo?
No, there can be NO humans in the photo. Any photos that include people whether or adults or kids, will be disqualified.
Can My Dog’s Friends And Family Enter?
Yes! You can submit FIVE entries per person, please. Additional entries beyond the first FIVE will be disqualified.
How Do I Know If I Won the Halloween Dog Photo Contest?
Winners will be notified and have 48 hours to respond. Winners will be revealed on Friday, October 28, 2022, in this post and through email.
Winners must provide their name and mailing address for prize fulfillment. Winners who fail to respond within 48 hours of winning will be disqualified and the runner-up will be selected. USA only please and must be 18 or older to win.
Hint: Don’t submit photos you entered in previous years.
All winning images will appear across our social media channels and you provide us with permission to share your entries on social media.

Visit Fidose of Reality on Facebook for the official album of entries and stay tuned as the photos are posted every 1-2 days.
Can I Enter Photos I’ve Submitted In Years Past?
It is not recommended that you send photos from the past. If they didn’t win the first time, try again with a new image!
