Grateful Dead? More like Grateful Dog! Brews, bops and berry good music—what’s not to ruv? Dancing in the Streets will unite some of Chicago’s best breweries and deadheads all weekend long. Tie-dye encouraged, leashes required.
Edgewater, Chicago
Friday, August 5, 6–9 p.m.
Bands on Broadway is kicking off their August patio takeover in Edgewater this Friday, so grab reservations and treat your pup (to treatos) and your ears (to music). If you need a pawesome suggestion: Uncommon Ground has a spacious and dog-friendly patio that will serve you equally well for pre-dinner drinks or a full meal.
Northalsted, Chicago
Saturday–Sunday, August 6–7, 11 a.m.–10 p.m.; $15 suggested donation
Dress to the (ca)nines and head out with your furry crew to Market Days this weekend. Half-street fest, half-concert, all fun. If you’re accessorizing with a leash and pup, organizers recommend going early because Market Days fills up to standing room only when the sun goes down.
4. Beach Pawty
Chicagoans know it’s yapsolutely paramount to soak up every bit of summer fun before another long winter. This weekend is looking warm, sunny, and perfect for some water sports, so we puppamend taking full advantage! We have 6 water activities for you and your canine companion that you gotta check out. Your intrepid doggy paddler is pawtiently waiting for you to pack sunscreen, life jackets, and a camera for an un-fur-gettable weekend.
Anti-Cruelty Society, Chicago
Saturday, August 6, 10–11:30 a.m.; registration required
Parents of tiny hoomans: do your little ones obsess over every pup they meet? Is “vet” a dream job (even though they think vets just pet animals all day)? Then you’ll wanna head to the Anti-Cruelty Society’s River North clinic for Kids Who Care where your kiddos can make a difference by creating adoption posters, snacks, and toys for animals. This is a great chance to teach a love for animals at a young age and make a difference in the life of a shelter pet.

Rover Rescue
- Usually we’d never recommend leaving the city on the weekend, but Rover Rescue’s Barn Sale in Aurora has some of the cutest pupparoos that’ll make the drive 100% worth it. On Saturday, August 6, from 12–2 p.m., you can meet adoptable doggos and potentially even fall in ruv.
