The winter season is upon us, and one of the best ways to spend this time is by snuggling up to our fluff balls while lounging about on the couch. They love receiving hugs just as much as they love giving them; that’s why they’re the perfect cuddle buddies.
Of course, not all people are thrilled to have these animals around. Some of them have a lot on their plate; they can’t spare a few hours for these pups. There are also those who dislike having dogs around, regardless of how adorable they are.
The hashtag that started it all
As humans, we’re wired to hate on things we don’t understand. Oftentimes, we encounter people who don’t want to have dogs because they’ve never experienced being a parent to one. There are, of course, those who’ve had terrible experiences with dogs; that’s why they’ve sworn off this species for eternity.
Stories of those who’ve changed their minds about having dogs were recently highlighted through the hashtag, #didntwantadogchallenge. It was posted on Dogspotting Society, a popular group on Facebook. It has over a million members, all of which made their contributions to the online discussion.
Some stories revolved around people whose dogs had passed and weren’t ready to welcome new ones. Some ended up falling for fluff balls that were only supposed to stay with them for a short period of time. Others found themselves creating small spaces in their hearts for dogs that their family members brought home despite their objections.
A virtual gathering of dog lovers
The hashtag went viral as each member shared heartwarming stories about how dogs changed the lives of people who weren’t their biggest fans in the past. These snippets were so filled with love, a lot of people turned to them to find reasons to smile amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
