Whether you’re up for a classy night out, dressed up and looking for a curated cocktail program, or want to head to a dive for a craft brew and peanut, Seattle is brimming with bars to choose from. However, that list can get a bit smaller when you start filtering for dog-friendly options. We’re here for you. Sniff out five dog-friendly bars in Seattle where you and your best furiend can throw ‘em back together (1 beer, 1 artisanal water, plz).
1. Twilight Exit
Easily one of the most notorious dive bars in Seattle, this Central District staple has been slinging drinks and traditional bar food for 20+ years. Hang out and play ping pong, pinball, Ms. Pac-Man, or shuffleboard. Sundays are for karaoke (starts at 9 p.m.), and brunch starts weekend mornings at 10 a.m. Dogs are allowed inside and outside!
2. The Hideout
Does pup want a night of glamour? Head to The Hideout on First Hill. When owners Greg Lundgren and Jeff Scott opened in 2005, they wanted Seattle “to grow out of its college years and at least pretend to have some style and culture.” Ouch, but at the same time, not wrong. Well, you and floof can definitely pretend at The Hideout, where the dark, romantic ambience is mixed with top notch cocktails and hand squeezed juices.
3. Jupiter Bar
It would honestly be rude to call Jupiter Bar just a bar. But we understand Jupiter Art Bar, Game Room, Arcade, and Gallery doesn’t just roll off the tongue. And yet, this Belltown establishment has it all–murals on every wall, 40+ arcade games, and a game room full of vintage to new pinball machines for all skill levels (except pawed). Oh, and two pool tables if you’re old school.
4. Dogwood
Need a drink after a long day at work, but also need to exercise your pupper? No need to pick just one if you head to Dogwood in Lake City. This indoor dog park/bar serves local cider, wine, and beer, which you can enjoy while sitting back and letting your furry demon friend run those zoomies out. Note: Play park access is $12 per dog (proof of vaccines required), but well worth it in the fall and winter months when it gets dark at 4 p.m.
5. The Octopus Bar
Well-known as one of Seattle’s “best kept secrets” (yes, we understand the irony there), the city collectively breathed a sigh of relief when Octopus reopened post their COVID shutdown. We thought we might lose this quirky gem for a moment there, which would be a huge, sea-themed shipwreck of a loss. Pro tip: While the patio is lovely in summer months, take derg inside at least once to pop into the photobooth and fully memorialize your date night.
