The howlidays are a litter different every year, but one tradition doesn’t have to change! Finding the perfect Christmas tree! Grab your gloves, pup, and holiday spirit, and head to these Seattle dog-friendly Christmas tree farms.
1. Hunter Farms
Seventy years, folks. That’s how long Hunter Farms has been in the Christmas tree business–so you KNOW they know what they’re talking about! You can find both sheared and unsheared trees on their lot in the Olympic Peninsula (up to 20-feet tall for those of you lucky pups with soaring ceilings). If you’re feeling adventurous, BYO saw and twine to cut your own tree! Just make sure to bring some manpower–you know your little prince/princess isn’t going to lift a paw to help. The farm and lot are open weekends from 9 a.m.-4:30 p.m. and weekdays by appointment (call (253) 318-0741 to book a time).
2. Trinity Tree Farm
U-cuts, pre-cuts–Trinity Tree Farm has it all! The Issaquah farm spans 40 luxurious acres where you can find Grands, Douglases, Nobles, and Fraser Firs alike. No need to DIY hand saws and twine; they got you! Just make sure you pick up after your pup, keep him on leash, and mayyyybe don’t let him lift his legs to the most expensive tree, ya know? The gift shop is closed this year, but there’s an espresso bar and food cart with to-go items. They’re open Saturdays and Sundays from 8 a.m.-6 p.m., and Monday through Friday from 10 a.m.- 6 p.m.
3. Seattle Christmas Tree
Live in the city, but don’t feel up for a drive? Seattle Christmas Tree offers a dog-friendly alternative to a full-blown farm and is located right in the city. They even have online ordering, curbside pickup, and contactless delivery options (free within a 3-mile radius of Wallingford). The lot is currently open for business Monday through Friday from 9 a.m.- 8 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday from 8 a.m.-8 p.m.
4. Christmas Creek Tree Farm
If you’re looking for a Christmas tree lot straight out of a Hallmark movie, we found it. Christmas Creek Tree Farm is nestled alongside the Snoqualmie River and tucked into the Cascade Mountains. U-cut or pre-cut trees (up to 14 feet) are available in Noble, Nordman, Grand, and Douglas Fir varieties. After you get your tree, grab a cup of complimentary hot apple cider or coffee. (No beverages for Fido. But let’s be honest, he didn’t help anyway, right?) The farm and lot are open on Saturdays and Sundays from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. through the end of December.
5. McMurtey’s Red-Wood Christmas Tree Farm
Cocoa. Cider. Candy Canes. Wreaths. Trees. McMurtey’s Red-Wood Christmas Tree Farm is doing their darndest to put you in the holiday spirit, and we could not appreciate them more! Cut your own Douglas Fir or get a pre-cut one, from 15-feet to tabletop (or should we say doghouse) size. U-Cut closes Dec. 3. Pre-cuts are available through Dec. They’re open daily from 10 a.m.- 8 p.m.
6. Buttonwood Farms
We know Fifi is nothing if not exclusive. Buttonwood Farms is the perfect place to hunt for a tree with your shy pup. Douglas, Noble, Fraser, Grand–oh my! Buttonwood’s organically grown Christmas trees are available by appointment only. Schedule your appointment to find the perfect tree today, and pup can sniff around like she owns the place. Shh, no one tell her she doesn’t.
